It’s an old cliche that we all know and understand, but to what extent do you really apply it in your business? For example, do you make a phone call when an email would do just fine? Sure, there’s something to be said for spending a little extra time building rapport with your clients, but phone calls often stretch out into ten, twenty, thirty minutes when taking five minutes to craft an email would have gotten the job done. Remember, your clients and strategic partners are busy too — they may appreciate the efficiency of an email instead of a phone call.

The main reason why we sometimes resist the idea of time management is because we prefer to enjoy freedom more than to work limitless. It may be helpful for us to evaluate that the effort is not about becoming slaves to our schedules, but rather to free us from stress created from the poor management of our time. We can actually control ourselves from becoming burnt-out of so many tasks to accomplish during the day when we will just allow ourselves to focus seriously on the work to be done without also depriving ourselves from non-work activities.

Time and time again we are just coping to finish everything that we need to do. Everyday we are utterly swamped with work that needs our attention. There are so many things that need to be done but we only have 24 hours in a day.

Making sense of good business goals is an active part of the planning that goes into any business that’s being contemplated by a person who may be thinking of becoming an entrepreneur. It’s great that the entrepreneurial spirit exists in most people, but without having some solid goals in mind, they may not be able to turn into the new age Bill Gates or Martha Stewart they hope to be, to use them as examples.
