Hypnosis and Stress.

by Dr. Phil Hariram

There is no doubt that hypnosis is a very effective treatment of stress. Stress develops when an individual feel he does not have the required resources to cope with a task he is confronted with. Hypnosis works by changing belief and capability so the subject no longer feels he is unable to cope.

Dr. Lipton said that up to 90% of diseases are caused by stress. Persistent stress starves vital organs of nutrients and oxygen. This is fine on the odd occasion but when it becomes persistent, diseases are likely.

Stress develops when you feel you cannot cope with situations around you. It is not the problems you face that causes stress but your perception that it is difficult that results in stress. Stress follows when you feel you cannot cope. After hypnosis, you have a change in perception, belief and expectation. You now believe that you can cope very well and as a result stress disappears.

After a course of hypnosis, stressful situations are converted to easy to do things and are no longer stressful. The hypnotist has changed your belief and you now know that you can handle all problems as they occur because you have the required resources.

A hypnotist will use induction and deepening trance to put you into a deep relaxed sleep. In this state your brainwave pattern has changed from beta to theta. At this pattern of activity, the filters or barriers that block unwanted messages from reaching the Subconscious MInd are relaxed. The hypnotist is now able to replace negative attitude, belief and expectation with positive ones.

There is no doubt that hypnosis is a powerful and safe stress and anxiety treatment. Another effective and recommended treatement for stress is meditation. For it to be effective, the stressed individual needs to relax and clear his or her mind. This will be difficult initially. For faster benefits, it is best to have hypnotherapy first then start meditating for lasting results.

If you have stress, you know that it is an unpleasant thing. The enjoyment in your life seem to be gone along with your libido. Stress can make you angry, anxious and depressed. You get short tempered and go quickly into rage mood. In addition when stressed, a person makes unnecessary mistakes and becomes less creative.

Not only is stress responsible for millions of days a year lost to industry, it is a heavy burden on health services. It is responsible for up to 90% of diseases. By triggering the fight or flight reacion, high levels of adrenaline and cortisone circulate in the blood. This prepares us for action. They shut off nutrients and oxygen to some important organs and stimulates the heart. This is fine occasionally but with persistent stress, it can affect these organs and cause disease.

Hypnosis is not just a treatment for stress. By the way it works, it can change many aspects of our lives. It has changed the lives of numerous people and most of the time it is because it creates a positive attitude in peoples lives.

Once you are in a deep hypnotic trance, post hypnotic suggestions will be made. This is the most important part of hypnotherapy. These suggestions will decide how you cope with future stressful situations. Suggestions such as, you are calm and relaxed, are powerful and effective. In addition the hypnotist will suggest that you will not get stressed when confronted with a difficult task. Instead you will see it as a difficult task but it can be done and you will be looking at the best way to do it.

So instead of drugs, counselling, psychotherapy or CBT, have hypnotherapy for safe and outstanding results of all your stress problems. Remember hypnosis is nothing more than a state of heightened awareness where your right brain becomes very alert. It does not analyse or filter like the left brain. It simply accepts suggestions by the hypnotist while you remain in a calm relaxed altered sleep.
